Bonjour et bienvenue !  Je suis très contente d'être votre professeur !

I am very happy to be your teacher! We are going to have a fantastic year together, learning French language and exploring the many francophone cultures around the world.

Multilingualism is such a gift that will open up a world of opportunities! For me, French language has created many opportunities to make new friends, to study abroad, to travel, to learn about new music and films, and even to work in a French public school and the French Embassy! Just imagine where it might take you!

In French 1A, 1B, and 1C, students will practice using the language in authentic ways, interacting with the language in ways that a native speaker would. My teaching focuses on the language standards set forth by the State of California and ACTFL (the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages). During classes, students interact using the three modes of communication: interpretive, interpersonal, and presentational, in order to progress toward fluency and comfort with the language. This can take the form of a reading with questions, having a conversation with a friend, or presenting a project or skit.

It can be scary to learn a new language, but I promise to create a welcoming environment where you can feel comfortable trying new things. Just remember to try your best and have fun! If you ever have questions you can talk to me after class or send me an email.

À bientôt !
