Adrienne Philippe

Assistant Principal

Dear La Entrada Families,

I am very much looking forward to the 2019-2020 school year!  This will be my 4th year at La Entrada as one of your assistant principals.

For those of you who have not met me yet, I am joining you with over 15 years of teaching experience at the high school and middle school levels.  For 10 years, I worked at Fremont High School in Sunnyvale as a math teacher and served as Department Chair.  I taught Geometry, Algebra 1, and Algebra Workshop (a support for our Algebra 1 students).  For the 5 years prior, I taught at Graham Middle School in Mountain View.  I taught the 6th and 7th grade math courses and was also Department Chair there.  I have worked closely with the Stanford Teacher Education Program as a mentor teacher as well.  This program happens to be the one from which I earned my teaching credential back in 2001.  I made the decision to become certified in administration and move into leadership when I realized how it was time to have a greater outreach to more students and focus on instructional leadership.  My goal is to have every student have an outstanding educational experience.

My three areas of focus will be student safety, building school climate, and supporting our staff and families.  I envision a school where students are safe to learn and feel welcomed.  I will help my teaching and support staff to feel inspired and excited to work with your students.  I invite you to take an active part in your student's education.  Parent involvement - everything from volunteering to simply taking an interest in what your student is learning and bringing home - is essential.  Student success is built upon a strong triangular relationship:  teachers/staff + students + families.  You are an important part of the equation!

On a personal level, I grew up in a small town outside of Philadelphia and went to the University of Virginia, where I ended up meeting my husband (though it wasn't until after graduating that we actually reconnected in the Bay Area, right here in Menlo Park!)  I love spending time with my family - my husband, two sons (ages 10 yrs old and 8 yrs old), and two Great Pyrenees puppies.  We often spend time playing baseball, going to A's games, going for hikes in the mountains or at the beach, and snowboarding.  Although my entire name is French, it is all just purely a coincidence.  But in case you were curious, my last name "Philippe" is pronounced "Fill-eep."

I feel honored and excited to be part of your school.  To those of you whom I have met, I look forward to reconnecting with you this year.  And to those of you whom I will soon meet, I look forward to meeting you and working together to make this a wonderful year.

Welcome back to school, Leopards!

Sincerely,

Adrienne Philippe
